Padi Kolam / Rangoli - Traditional Design

A classical Padi kolam/Rangoli or traditional rangoli pattern are popular in South India. It is auspicious to draw Padi Kolam inside or outside the house. Draw this rangoli design especially on special occasions and Pooja days. 



Step 1: Draw four medium size square shape. You can use scale or any tools to make this shape perfect.


Step 2: Draw more straight lines in inside the box shape.(Refer below images)







Step 3: Draw flower designs connected by straight lines.Refer the below images one by one you will get clear ideas about to draw this design.






Step 4: Draw dots inside the small square boxes. Small dots will give brightness to your rangoli designs




Step 5: Draw curve lines on top of the design.(Refer below images)






Step 6: Draw lotus and simple designs on the lotus.




Step 7: Draw simple designs inside the Lotus and Padi. That will give more brightness to your rangoli. Completed Rangoli (Below image). Choose this beautiful Rangoli during your family festivals or special occasions too. 


Whenever I draw this Padi kolam, in-front of our Pooja room always keep Manjal - Kunkumam (Turmeric powder and Kum kum) with flowers on the design. It looks very devotional way.
